🟢 I'm No Economist #25: Superhuman for WhatsApp

🧗♀️ What's it like to be an entrepreneur?
Howdy!
Being an entrepreneur is the most masochist profession there is. You're always hyper-vigilant, thinking everything will go south, but hanging on a thread of hope that if you keep pushing, you're going to get the results you expect.
Working 70-80 hours weekly has been crazy, but I can't give it up. I just love the insane context-switching, sharing the experience with other people, hearing other entrepreneurs' challenges, and thinking of solutions all day.
Today I had lunch with a long-time friend who's running a fast-growing company. He's in the middle of a crossroads dealing with so many levels of complexity in a decision he has to make. And it amazes me that, despite so many headwinds he has faced over the years, that he's still so excited about the journey.
That's what we're looking for when we're building: that hope, that spark in the eye that will never fade out, regardless of the difficulties found along the way.
and I are now at our, I don't know, maybe the 6th pivot since we started working together in mid-September'23. And we do. not. give. up.We're not getting any money out of our new tests. But it's the most excited I've ever felt in years of professional experience. Because we know deep down that we're going to make it. It's just a matter of time.
🟢 Superhuman for Whatsapp
In case you missed it, Rapha and I are working on a project to build the Superhuman for WhatsApp. This is the strongest thesis we've found yet.
If you don't know what Superhuman is, it's an e-mail client that boosts your productivity by helping you achieve inbox zero.
But we don't have anything similar for WhatsApp. Probably because people outside of Latam don't realize WhatsApp is a thing here in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, etc. So the need to put real product development money into it hasn't shown itself (yet!).
We're quickly finding out from founders, investors, and executives that WhatsApp is a major piece of their tech stack. It's an important tool to not only manage their personal communications with family and friends but one that blends into their work life too.
And I can't tell you how much these people suffer to process their day-to-day comms from what we've heard in interviews.
My bet is they'd rather pay for something that would make them sleep better if they knew they didn't forget something important inside that chaos of green circle notifications:
A payment their spouse sent them to make by the end of the day;
An invoice they should've sent a client or;
A happy b-day you should've sent to their cousin in that family group everybody else did but you.
Rapha and I are going to develop (yet again) another MVP to test in-house for the next sprint.
But we will gain a lot of insights by hearing from you and how you manage your WhatsApp inbox.
If you have trouble managing your WhatsApp inbox, please schedule 30 min with us here:
We would love to hear from you. In exchange, we will call you up to be our beta tester and sh*t on our early product and how we should improve it.
Talk soon,
L.
